Being "Principaled" is a way to think our position in the education system. Yes, I am principal, but this site is for every leader. The topics here surround education and leadership but are not exclusive. I welcome your thoughts and discussion.
I am a school principal and have had the wonderful experience of being an administrator in a middle school, high school, and at an elementary multi-level. I am indeed Canadian, and proudly so! I have a family who I deeply care for, and I truly love my job. This does not mean my job does not come with intense challenges, but I certainly am thankful for the opportunity to work and influence students and teachers towards their own personal greatness.
What you won't find here in abundance
I appreciate quantitative data just as much as next educator. The books from Hattie, Whittaker, Hammond, Fullen and more, have enough stats to take me in many directions. However, this site is dedicated to the human aspect. When you are sitting across the table from a depressed student, a disillusioned parent, an angry teacher, stats will come to the rescue. Relationships with those around us are intensely personal and real. In those moments how we respond as leaders will influence our school and direct culture. This space is for discussion, I enjoy reading, and will discuss various aspects and topics. I believe strongly in culture building, but I also believe in grassroots creation. I have coached budding administrators and teachers around this area. Personally, I need a place to put down my thoughts, and I welcome yours.
Please feel free to contact me.
